Victorian Legacy - Seaham, England

Wear a piece of history!

Every piece in our Victorian Legacy Collection is made from handpicked sea glass collected along the North East Coast of England, around the historic town of Seaham near Sunderland.

Seaham was home to the largest bottle works in Europe during the Victorian era (18530 1921), producing vast quantities of glass. The surplus and broken glass was discarded over the cliffs into the sea, creating one of the most polluted coastlines in the World. Thanks to the huge conservation efforts seen in the  Turning Tides Project (c1997-2002) this coastline is now part of the Durham Heritage Coast, these beaches that once teemed with glass are now nearly picked clean - each piece is a rare slice of history and so are highly sought after by collectors the world over.

The pieces of glass in this collection are more than a 100 years old, and this is visible by how smooth each piece is. The waves have smoothed and frosted the glass, turning them into timeless rare treasures.

Own a part of Seaham’s heritage today with jewellery that’s timeless and unique and tells a memorable story.
